Biography
Carolyn Arena (International and Global History) is currently researching her PhD thesis on the role of Amerindian slaves and laborers in 17th century Caribbean colonies. Her advisors are Professor Christopher Brown and Professor Evan Haefeli. Carolyn is broadly interested in the diversity of labor systems and inter-imperial trade in the early modern world.

Carolyn is a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Madison. She has been a FLAS fellow (Dutch), served as GHA's Social Chair, and worked as a rapporteur for Columbia's Seminar on Early American History and Culture. Since the beginning of her graduate career, Carolyn has participated enthusiastically in intramural dodgeball, basketball, soccer, and kickball.
