Summer Journalism Workshop 2008

SUMMER WORKSHOP ONLINE REGISTRATION AVAILABLE

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association invites newspaper and yearbook staffs to its 27th annual Summer Journalism Workshop, held on the historic campus of Columbia University in the City of New York. This year's Workshop will take place from Sunday, June 22nd to Friday, June 27th.

Come join hundreds of newspaper and yearbook students and advisers as they improve their skills, rethink their publications and take part in a learning experience like no other – in the media capital of the world!

CSPA increases number of categories in 2009 Gold Circles

Now students have 241 categories to enter in the 2009 Gold Circle Awards program and win awards for their work. Our competition is open to all student journalists in middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities. Judges will evaluate the work of student journalists in 113 newspaper, news magazines; 40 literary, literary/art and general magazines; 66 yearbook; 5 video and 17 online categories.

1,496 Gold Circle Awards presented in 2008

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association's 25th annual Gold Circle Awards program, its annual competition for individual achievement by student writers, editors, designers and photographers, attracted 11, 959 entries from colleges, universities and secondary schools throughout the United States.

Of those entries, only 1,496 received either a First, Second, Third Place or Certificate of Merit Award during the 2008 competition.

Entries were accepted from student newspapers, magazines, yearbooks and videos either originally printed or broadcast from November 2, 2006 through November 1, 2007.
